In 2007, he was sued by Colleen Shepherd, the mother of Tina Shepherd, who died one year after undergoing gastric bypass surgery by Dr. Nowzaradan. Colleen claimed that Dr. Nowzaradan and the hospital did not warn Tina about the risks of the surgery and did not provide adequate post-operative care. The lawsuit was later dropped.
In 2012, he was sued by Michelle Park, a patient who claimed that he left a seven-inch piece of tubing inside her abdomen during a gastric band surgery in 2009. She said that she suffered from pain and infection for two years before discovering the foreign object. The lawsuit was also dismissed.
In 2020, he was sued by several former patients of My 600-lb Life, who alleged that he and the production company Megalomedia exploited them and did not pay their medical bills. They also claimed that they were subjected to unsafe filming conditions and emotional distress. The lawsuits are still ongoing.

Delores worked as a secretary before the marriage. After marriage, she was a typical housewife looking after her family and children. What caused the divorce?
While on paper their conjugal life lasted 29 years, in truth the marriage was already in ruins during its final years. Delores filed for divorce in 2002. After two long years of the court battle, the divorce was finalized in 2004. According to divorce papers, Delores claimed Nowzaradan of cruel treatment and unsupportive towards her. It became the reason for their break up. When the divorce was finalized, the claims were approved and Nowzaradan was found guilty of lack of support and cruelty.
Delores was given 70% of his assets which was attributed to Dr. Now unlawful action of trying to hide assets, claiming to be retired, and obstructing the discovery of evidence.

Delores now goes by the name Delores McRedmond. According to her LinkedIn page, she continues to live in Huston, Texas, and worked as an eacher/tutor at Oakridge Elementary School. Jonathan Nowzaradan is the eldest of three and the only son of the pair. He was born on 6th February 1978 in Texas . Jonathan is the founder, president, and CEO of Megalomedia a video production company in Texas. Jonathan served as director and executive producer of several episodes of “My 600-lb Life.” Jonathan is a married man, and his wife is Amber Nowzaradan. The pair has a teenage daughter Danielle Nowzaradan.
