The El Camino is one of the most featured and well-known cars featured in the reality TV series, Street Outlaws. In the hands of Chris Kamikaze, the car is one hell of a beast. It suits Chris’s aggressive style and Chris seems to prefer her over other cars. But while El Camino is now Chris’s car, it was not always his. It once belonged to Tyler Priddy, who was also known by his street name Flip. Tyler was one of the first racers drafted in the TV series. But in 2013, the man met an unfortunate ending from a gunshot. In this article, we will take a closer look at what little is known about Tyler Priddy.
Tyler Priddy was born on the 30th of November 1981, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. As a young kid, Tyler spent much of his early life around cars. During his early years, the street racing scene in Oklahoma was strong and Tyler, like every other kid, was attracted to the tracks. Born to Glenda and Gene Priddy, Tyler attended the Hinton Elementary before heading off to Putnam City High School in Warr Acres. Tyler never went to college and started working when he graduated high school.
After graduating high school, Tyler started working as a warehouse manager for Warren Caterpillar. The company was one of the largest car dealers in the country and was the source of Warren’s income for a long time.
Warren was into drag racing from a young age and continued it later on in his career. Warren’s fortunes changed when he was sponsored by the Warren Cat to continue his drag racing. In the years that followed, Warrens started winning races left and right. This eventually brought him an opportunity to work on the reality TV series, Street Outlaws. He was drafted for the first season and as one of the meanest street racers in Oklahoma, racers were often terrified of Tyler. He drove the El Camino, which was referred to as ‘The Old Slut’, back in the day. And while he did all the hard work, Tyler never got the chance to see himself on TV. When the show was preparing for its release, Tyler met an unfortunate end.
Tyler Priddy was found dead in his home on the 28th of May, 2013. Tyler was 31 at the time and was just starting to get into his career. While there are no concrete reports, Tyler is believed to have died from a gunshot wound. Many thought that Tyler committed suicide, the rumors were further fueled when Morgan Priddy commented,
“Suicide is so often swept under the rug, and I’m ready to share with the world how it shouldn’t be.”
But contrary to those rumors, Discovery said that Tyler had died when a nitrous bottle exploded in his face after being heated up. But, there are no facts to back this statement as well. After news reached around the world, tributes poured in from fellow racers, cast members, and fans.
What he left behind:
While he lived, Tyler shared a loving family with Morgan Amber Priddy. Even though rumors circulated that Morgan was cheating on Tyler, the man never doubted his wife. The couple shared four lovely children, Remey J, Bennett William Edward, Dresdyn Rinot, and Tovey Gene. With the absence of Tyler, little is known about what happened to his family.
