Early Life

Jacob Roloff is one of the four children of Matt and Amy Roloff. Born on the 17th of January, 1997, Jacob is the youngest child in the Roloff family. Similar to his siblings Zach, Molly, and Jeremy, Jacob spent much of his early life in Oregon. As far as his educational endeavors go, Jacob never finished high school. When he turned 18, Jacob left his family and dropped out of high-school.

Career as a TV Personality

Jacob Roloff started his professional career as a TV personality at the age of nine, when he joined his family on the TLC show Little People, Big World. The show followed the daily lives of his parents, Matthew and Amy Roloff, who have dwarfism, and his three siblings, Zach, Jeremy and Molly Jo. As the youngest and the most outspoken child of the family, Jacob was often seen as rebellious and controversial, who sometimes clashed with his parents and the producers. However, he also gained fame and popularity for his honesty and charisma.

Despite his success on TV, Jacob decided to leave the show in 2019 after 13 years of being on air. He cited creative differences and dissatisfaction with the network as his reasons for quitting. He also claimed that the show manipulated and scripted his family’s reality.

Jacob is not only a TV star, but also an author, a blogger, and a traveler. He has many interests and passions besides being on TV. In 2017, he released his first book, Verbing, which focuses on his growth after being in the public eye for so long. The following year, he published his second book, Out to See, which chronicles his adventures and reflections on life. He is also a content creator on YouTube and posts regular videos of their travels on their channel, Rock & Roloff.

Reason behind Exit from the Show and possible return

When he turned 18, not only did Jacob left his family but he also stopped appearing on the reality TV series altogether. Of all the family members, Jacob has been the most vocal about the tricks producers use to increase their ratings. Talking about those instances, Jacob commented,

‘Producers have to try to get us to follow the talking points. For me, noticing how the agenda of the crew doesn’t work well with the health and happiness of our family is what made me decide quite a while ago that I could not be a part of it as soon as I was able.’

Even though Jacob left his family and the TV series, he stays nearby and is often seen together with his brothers and sister. When asked if he would ever return to do the show once more, Jacob replied,

‘I get comments on here all the time about how people ‘miss me on the show’ or telling me I should ‘do a few more episodes’ with the family; I’m posting this to say that that will never happen.’ In the same post, Zack also mentioned the problems of having a camera follow him ever since he was nine.

Net Worth

Jacob has amassed a net worth of around $300,000 as of 2023. He earned most of his income from appearing in the TLC show Little People, Big World, publishing books like Verbing and Out to See, running a podcast and a blog with his wife Isabel Rock, and his social media platforms, such as Instagram and YouTube.

Accident

Back in the day when Jacob was still working on the series, he got into an accident with family friend Mike Detjen. The accidents happened after the family’s trebuchet (used to launch pumpkins as part of the pumpkin season promotion) triggered prematurely. The duo was rushed to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, where Jacob underwent surgery to relieve swelling. Fortunately for Jacob, he suffered no life-threatening injuries and the accident was not recorded on camera as well.

Personal life

Jacob is a married man. He tied the knot with Isabel Sofia on the 7th of September 2019. The pair met during their early years and dated for quite a while before deciding to get engaged during Christmas of 2017. They also have two dogs named Luna and Moose. On December 4, 2021, Jacob and Isabel welcomed their first child, a son named Mateo Tomás.

Controversy

Jacob Roloff has been involved in several controversies and rumors over the years, both related and unrelated to his former reality TV show Little People, Big World. Some of the most notable ones are:

In 2016, he criticized the show for fabricating scenes and misrepresenting his family’s reality. He also accused the producers of trying to manipulate him and his siblings into following certain talking points.

In 2020, he revealed that he was molested by a producer Chris Cardamone when he was a child, after a long grooming process. He said he decided to disclose it to exorcise the traumatic memory and raise awareness about child sexual abuse.

He had family feud with his brother Jeremy and his wife Audrey over their political and social views.

In 2020, he closed his company Rock & Roloff, which he launched with his wife Isabel in 2018. The company offered photography, writing and podcasting services. Some fans speculated that he closed it because he was inheriting the Roloff family farm from his father Matt.
