Bodyguard second season, will there be one?

Political and Crime thriller Bodyguard is supposed to be a limited series and the ending is satisfying as well.Halfway through the show troubled War veteran David Budd ( played by Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden) fails to protect Julia Montague (played by English actress Keeley Hawes) who dies in a bombing. Thereafter Budd goes through a series of the stressful events; attempts suicide even find himself trapped in a bomb vest.

In the showpiece, final episode, Budd cracks down the murder mystery, become a hero in eyes of many, and his relationship with estranged wife seems rejuvenated. Happy ending, right? It does not necessarily feel like the need to continue the story in second season.

During Entertainment Weekly interview, show creator, Jed Mercurio opened the network has not asked him for further episodes (second season) yet. Previously speaking to Radio Times Jed Mercurio said that he would “absolutely” do the second series, but has worries over whether he’ll get one.

For now, it is too early to draw any conclusion whether or not second season will be released. Show creator Mercurio views put us in a position to think “Bodyguard 2” might not happen. As per the huge popularity and fan base of the show, it would be hard for BBC network to turn down the lure for the second season.
