When it comes to captaining a fishing vessel, you can’t do better than Sig Hansen. The captain of the vessel Northwestern, Hansen is one of the most skilled guys on the sea. His expertise at sea has been perfectly portrayed in the reality series, Deadliest Catch. Hansen’s expertise is called time and again as the crew finds themselves in a difficult situation. Mandy Hansen is one of the crew members of Northwestern while also being the daughter of Sig Hansen. A celebrity child, Mandy decided to follow her father to the sea. Even though, both his daughters Mandy and Nina are adopted they very much take to sig in terms of his courage and determination. Today, we take a closer at the wiki-bio of Mandy Hansen.
Mandy Hansen was born sometime during 1996 and was later adopted by Sig Hansen. Sig who was then married to June decided to adopt both Mandy and Nina. Trotting behind her father, Mandy quickly learned about the dos and donts of fishing. A young Mandy would often engage herself in boating, crabbing, and fishing from a young age. Mandy graduated from the Washington State University before attending the Maritime Academy in San Diego. She then obtained all the necessary permits to run ocean liners and freighters.
Even without the influence of her father, Mandy knew that she wanted to join the family business. Even though her parents resisted at first, Mandy persevered. She managed to convince Sig that fishing was not privy to men only. Her first informal appearance came at the age of 13 as she was featured during the After the Catch segment.
Encouraged by her TV appearance, Mandy began spending her summers on the Northwestern learning more about fishing. Mandy’s debut appearance as an official crew member came on the 22nd of April 2014 as a deckhand. She slowly won over the crew members with her work-rate and was soon promoted to the right-hand of the ship.
A tight-knit family:
The Hansen’s are a close family. They value their relationships and look out for their own. This attribute is highly visible in Mandy who is married to a fellow crew member, Clark Pederson. The pair met when Clark was working for the Shaver Transportation Company in Columbia. The pair hit it off well and were soon in love. Clark popped the big question, Mandy accepted and the pair got married on the 10th of June 2017. The wedding took place in front of the Northwestern vessel at Pacific Fisherman Shipyard in Seattle. Snippets of the wedding were aired during the final bits of Season 13’s finale and fans were glad for it.
Share of personal tragedies:
Things looked to be going well for the Hansen’s until Mandy announced that she had suffered from a miscarriage. The announcement came on the 11th of February 2019 via an Instagram post. She posted a photo of a white baby onesie and size three baby booties with pictures of crabs on the boots. The miscarriage happened while she was onboard the Northwestern.
Before this, the family was shocked by Sig’s heart attack in 2016 and June’s cancer diagnosis in 2019. But things are looking bright for Mandy. The future captain of the Northwester, Mandy vowed to remain strong during difficult times.
A bit on her parents Sig and June Hansen
Through thick and thin, for over 21 years Sig and June Hansen are together. The couple resides in Seattle, Washington. Abided by profession Sig has spent months in seas onboard every year but the time apart did not have any bad influence in the marriage. June has been supportive of Sig and his career. Alongside her husband, June appeared in several episodes and spin-off of Deadliest Catch. On the other hand, she is a homemaker and raised their two daughters well. June also likes to show her skill as a makeup artist and has a professional credit for comedy feature film Josh Taylor’s Prom Date (2019).
Mandy has not shared anything about her possessions and net worth. She does all the talking by working hard on board as the crew member of Northwestern and looks like the natural successor of her father’s fishing empire. For now, she earns mainly as the cast of Deadliest Catch.
