Mike Whiteside Early Life:
Mike’s early life is shrouded in mystery. While we do know that he was born in the United States, his exact date of birth or location is unknown. His mother Irene Whiteside made an appearance in the series in 2017 but details about his father are unknown. One to keep his cards close to his chest, Mike hasn’t revealed any details about his early life or education.
Even though Mike is best known as the owner of the Salvage Dawgs, that wasn’t always the case. After finishing college at 19, Mike enrolled in the navy. Serving his four years tenure at the Navy, Mike moved to Colorado in 1980. Fascinated by the ocean, Mike decided to work as a captain and held the position for 15 years. In his time, Mike had a coast guard issued a license for the post of a captain. It was only late in life that Mike decided to settle down and establish the Salvage Dawgs.
Mike has enjoyed a diverse professional life. From his time as a navy man to captain and now a businessman, he has done it all. Before being picked up by the DIY network, Mike used to sell his spoils on eBay which would net him considerable sums. When the show got picked up in 2012, Mike stopped his eBay exploits. While the exact figure is not known, his net worth is estimated to be around USD 1 million.
It was only after Mike married Susie Farris that he decided to settle down instead of being all over the place. The pair met back in the day and quickly fell for each other. Susie who was born and raised Roanoke built custom made window cornices. The pair met in Roanoke and tied their wedding knot in the following years. In their years of marriage, the pair gave birth to two amazing children: Gracie Whiteside and Tay Whiteside.
Even though Mike is not the one to share details on his family, we do know that Gracie studies Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University. On the other hand, Tay appears on the TV show alongside his father.
