Early Life

Marnie Oursler was born onĀ February 13, 1979,Ā  outside of Washington, D.C. in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Born into a family of home builders, Marnie took after her fathers and grandfathers. Marnie’s father, Marvin Oursler owns and operates Marrick Homes in Frederick, Maryland, and is still going strong. Marnie graduated from Northern High School in 1996 and later enrolled at the Naval Academy for a year. She later transferred to East Carolina University and was a regular on the softball team. She finished her education with a degree in Master’s Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Professional Career

Marnie’s career began early on in her high school days. As a young kid, spent her free time working at construction sites in the area with her uncles and her brother. Marnie bought her first house at the age of 24. Located in Bethany Beach, Delaware, Marnie splashed $240,000, which consumed almost all of her savings. Even though this left Marnie unable to afford any workers, it proved to be a blessing in disguise.

Marnie called back on her teachings and set to work on the house. Nine months later, the property was valued at $340,000. She used the profits to build another beach house. She stayed in the house for two hours before moving once again. This effectively kick-started Marnie’s career in house building.
