She has a sister called Michelle Ford, and a brother Steve Ford who is a carpenter and works alongside her as a contractor. Following her early education, Leanne went off to college and graduated with a degree in Interior design. When asked about her early inspirations in designing, Leanne points towards her mother.

“I mean, I guess if I really dive into that question, it would have to be my mom! Even though our style has never been similar, she always had the house beautifully decorated and it was always very well put together. I think I appreciated and noticed that, and wanted to do the same in my own home.”

Professional Career

For the longest time, Leanne Ford worked in fashion and was quite good at her job. She worked around Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville in the fashion industry. When it comes to renovation, things took off for Leanne after she renovated a 1907 schoolhouse in her hometown. Leanne paired up with her brother Steve, who worked as a carpenter and contractor and created a master bath from a grungy schoolhouse attic. It was quite the transformation and Leanne’s work was featured in several design books including Country Living. While the bathroom was Leanne’s first renovation work, it introduced her to the world of white-on-white and shaped her style right from the get-go.

Entitled Restored By The Fords, the series provided a platform for Leanne to exercise her trademark white-on-white. The series ended after two seasons in 2018. “It’s interesting, writing it with your brother. We’re very different when it comes to where we find happiness and enjoyment, and we have different styles of living in general. But we had the same childhood. At first, it was a challenge to figure out how to combine it all in a book. But it turned out to be a fun exercise in breaking it all down and finding where we most crossed paths.”
