During their time together in the series, Dustin was never seen calling Fred, ‘Dad’. He often referred to his father as Fred and this puzzled fans around the world. So when Fred was finally quizzed as to why Dustin doesn’t call him Dad, Fred revealed that,

“Well, he started working for me when he was 16 and he said it wasn’t cool to call your boss “Dad.” It’s just sorta stuck and it’s like a nickname now”.

Losing Fred Hurt

Dakota Fred Hurt passed away on July 11, 2023, a day after his 80th birthday. Fred was diagnosed with stage brain cancer in May 2023 and has been fighting the disease.
