Lying in his resume

Similar to his predecessor Joseph Teti, Dave Canterbury lied on his resume. Both Joseph and Dave chose to lie about their military training, but unlike Joseph, Dave admitted that he lied to the producers. On his resume, Dave mentioned that he was a sniper in the army. This was just one of Dave’s claims which was proven to be false. While the man had some record of serving in the Army from 1981-87, most of his facts turned out to be lies. His record shows that Dave served as a Sergent in the 984th Military Police Company, and 260th Military Police Company.

After leaving the series, Dave revealed on YouTube, “Did I embellish some of the things on my resume? I did. I didn’t do it to hurt anyone. I didn’t do it to make things difficult for anyone in my family. I actually did it too, number one, better my family.”

Fired from the series Dual Survival

Dave and Cody were the very first survivalist and military combo. So when news got out that Dave had lied on his resume, the producers decide to fire Dave from the series. After all, the entire series was built on trust. The whole idea of pairing up was to have someone to watch your back at all times. But after Dave’s lie was caught, the producers caught on fire and fired him from the series. Dave appeared in a total of two seasons: 1 and 2. But the showrunners made no progress in hiring, as his predecessor Joseph Tite was also believed to have lied about his military training.

Personal Life: Dave is a married man

On the outside, Dave seems a man to enjoy alone time in some remote wilderness of nature. Contrasting to his professional traits Dave shares a home and enjoys a blissful marriage with his wife of many years. He is married to Iris Canterbury. The couple tied the knot in 2002 and since have been together. Dave is said to have two children with his wife.
