For around four seasons, Joseph “Joe” Teti was the face of the reality TV series, Dual Survival. He assumed the mantle of a host at the start of the third season. Teti replaced Dave Canterbury as the host and ticked all the boxes. As the reality show features a pair of survival experts in challenging environments, the producers wanted a real military man to solve the problem of the host. They found Joseph a perfect fit for the TV show like his predecessor had done extensive military training. In this article, we take a closer look at the wiki-bio of Joseph Teti.
Lying on his resume:
When David Canterbury announced that he will be leaving the TV series Dual Survival, the producers frantically searched for a new man to take up the job. As the job demanded a high level of physical strength and survival skills, the producers were on a hunt for someone who had the experience of working in the military. In the time being, they came across Joseph Teti. A man who spends most of his time in the wilderness, Joesph was a perfect fit for the series. The man had prior military training and was a perfect partner to the laid-back survivalist, Cody Lundin.
But much like David Canterbury, many fans still believe that the producers might have hired another liar. While both David and Teti did their stints in the military, the pair might not have been straight forward in their resume. Joseph often mentions that he completed Special Forces Combat and Special Forces Sniper courses. But when asked about his regiment, Joseph revealed that the government unit was so secretive that he was not allowed to mention it. The fact was debunked by many army veterans including, Army Sergeant Major George Davenport. When Davenport checked with the Special Forces schools, there was no mention of any Joseph Teti.
Not is all as it seems:
On-screen, David Teti and Cody Lundin share an incredible relationship. The pair seem to be the best of friends and are constantly covering each other’s backs. However, when Cody left the series after the fourth season, he revealed that he felt threatened by the presence of Joseph Teti. He revealed that Teti had a short fuse and would constantly intimidate Lundin with various weaponry. In an article published by the TMZ, it was revealed that Teti threatened to ‘bury’ him on a mountain while waving around an ice ax. During a shoot in Hawaii, Lundin said Teti threatened to impale him with a spear. Eventually, Lundin left the show and was replaced by Matt Graham after the fifth season.
Leaving the series:
Joseph Teti left the series after the 5th season and was replaced by Grady Powell. But the series later revealed that Joseph had been fired. The decision was taken after Teti harmed a dog on-set. While the records are not cleared if Teti harmed the dog or killed it, the incident was taken very seriously by the higher-ups. As reported by the TMZ, “Joe Teti, a former Green Beret, was shooting one of the final scenes when some stray cats ran across the set … apparently fleeing from a dog. We’re told the dog actually got one of the cats in its jaws, and that’s when Teti went after the canine”. After the incident, the network released a memo that Joe Teti was not to be allowed on the network’s premises.
