Cristy Lee was born on October 21, 1977, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Her father was a mechanic who owned a small shop and introduced her to the world of motorbikes when she was young. She grew up as an athletic girl who played various sports, such as volleyball and soccer, in high school. She also learned more about motorcycles from her father and bought her first bike when she was 18.

Cristy Lee was diagnosed with Graves’ disease and thyroid eye disease, both autoimmune disorders that affect the thyroid gland and the eyes. She experienced a life-threatening condition called thyroid storm, which caused her to have a rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, and other symptoms. She had to undergo a total thyroidectomy. To her surprise, she also found out that she had thyroid cancer, which required further tests and treatments.

But that was not the end of her ordeal. She also suffered from a rare complication of Graves’ disease called thyroid eye disease (TED), which caused her eyes to bulge out, swell, and hurt. She had impaired vision, light sensitivity, and facial changes that affected her appearance and self-esteem. She tried various medications and therapies, but none of them worked. She eventually had to undergo orbital decompression surgery on each eye, which is a procedure to create more space for the eyes in the skull.

Cristy Lee’s health journey was painful. She had to endure physical and mental challenges that tested her strength and resilience.
