Vera Jimenez was born on the 1st of November 1974 in Mexico. When Vera was three years of age, she moved to Southern California with her parents and has been living there ever since. As a young kid, Vera attended the Bolsa Grande High School and continued her higher education at Santa Ana Community College. Following her graduation, Vera enrolled at California State University-Long Beach and graduated with an honors degree in religious studies. Interested in weather and journalism from a young age, Vera earned her degree in meteorology from Mississippi State University and graduated in 2009.

Professional Career:
During her time at Cal State Long Beach, Vera was working as an intern at the KIK-FM in Orange County. Following her graduation, Vera started working on producing traffic for Shadow Broadcasting. After working on the other side of the screen for a while, Vera landed her first reporting job as an overnight traffic reporter at KFWB-AM. The biggest learning curve came for Vera when she began working for KNX-AM. She worked as an airborne traffic reporter before moving on to wor for KABC-TV. After making her TV debut with KABC-TV, Vera moved to KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. It was during her time at KCBS-TV, that Vera decided to go back to school and study meteorology. After earning her certificate in August of 2009, Vera started working as a meteorologist at the KTLA Network.
Over the years, Vera has enjoyed an illustrious career marked by awards. As of 2020, Vera has won two Emmys, three Golden Pylons, and three Golden Mikes awards.

Alongside her work on-air, Vera also co-owns The Hermosa Beach Fish Shop on Pier Avenue. The eatery opened in 2014 but closed its doors in 2019 due to unspecified reasons. The eatery was run by Vera and her husband, Brian. Speaking on the closing day, Vera recalled all the fond memories she had while working on the shop.
