Todd Chrisley has been in the real estate market for a long time. Over the years, Todd has not only accumulated money from real estate but has also accumulated a considerable amount of fame, to the point where he produced and starred on a TV show under his name. Chrisley Knows Best began airing from the USA Network on the 11th of March 2014 and is centered around the daily life of the Chrisley household. In this article, we will take a closer look at the wiki-bio of Todd Chrisley.
Todd Chrisley was born on the 6th of April 1969 to Gene Raymond Chrisley and Faye Chrisley. Born and raised in Georgia, Todd spent much of his early life with his brothers Derrick Chrisley and Randy Chrisley. Little is known about Todd’s early life and the reality star is not too keen on sharing them. His educational background remains a complete mystery and while he should have graduated high school, there are no details of a college degree.
Todd is a real estate investor and entrepreneur who has his hands in several businesses. While Todd is certainly rich, there are very few details that explain his source of money. Todd first rose to fame as the lead star of the reality TV series, Chrisley Knows Best. He is known for spending recklessly and is quite the character in his house. His eccentric behavior comes off as irritating and controlling to many fans and a few of his family members.
Filing for bankruptcy:
A self-made millionaire, Todd has not been always able to keep up with his millionaire status. As of 2020, Todd has filed for bankruptcy twice. The first time he filed for bankruptcy was in 2012, when he filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy showing $4.2 million in assets and $49.4 million in debts. Following the announcement, Todd’s attorney spoke to the media,
“He guaranteed a real estate development loan and it failed. He was on the hook for $30 million. If he hadn’t had that happen, he would have been fine, financially.”
After filing for personal bankruptcy in 2012, Todd filed for corporate bankruptcy in 2013. However, the bankruptcy was settled in 2015 and Todd had to pay a small sum of $150,000.
Ongoing Legal Battle:
In 2019, Todd, Julie, and their accountant, Peter Tarantino, were charged by Georgia Northern District for bank and wire fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States and tax evasion. The pair face an ongoing battle which found guilty could see the Chrisley’s face up to 30 years each behind bars.
Both Todd and Julie plead not guilty and mentioned that a former employee had spied on them and had forged legal documents under the Chrisley’s name. As Todd Chrisley revealed in a lengthy Instagram post,
“We even discovered that he illegally bugged our home. Needless to say, we fired the guy and took him to court — and that’s when the real trouble started. To get revenge, he took a bunch of his phony documents to the U.S. Attorney’s office and told them we had committed all kinds of financial crimes, like tax evasion and bank fraud. That got their attention all right, but once we had a chance to explain who he was and what he’d done to us, they realized it was all a bunch of nonsense and they sent him on his way.”
Marriage and Children:
Todd doesn’t have the best of track record when it comes to his children. He first tied the knot with his high school sweetheart, Teresa Terry. The pair met during their time in high school and went onto have two children, Kyle Chrisley and Lindsey Chrisley. The pair did not have the best of married life and filed for divorce in November of 1994. The divorce was finalized in 1996 and Todd soon married his current wife, Julie.
While Todd has tied hard to erase the existence of Teresa from his life, Teresa revealed that Todd physically abused her. She even filed a case against Todd stating that he battered her while she was driving to the point where she had to pull over and run away. But the case was later dropped and Teresa moved on with her new partner.
Todd married Julie Chrisley on 25 May 1966, and the pair gave birth to three children, Chase, Savannah, and Grayson. While Todd is particularly close to Julie and their three children, he doesn’t share the best of relationship with Kyle and Lindsey.
