There is something different about classic cars. Be it the style, the glamor, or just the way they look. And also the fact that not many people drive them. Now, taking a classic car around town is more of a luxury than a need. Capitalizing on this desire to show off, Ted Vernon launched the South Beach Classics in Miami. One of Florida’s largest classic car dealership, South Beach Classics deals in classic, antique, muscle and other specialized automobiles. If you find yourself needing a classic fix in Miami, then Ted is the man you would want to see. His shop is also the subject of the reality TV series entitled, South Beach Classics. In this article, we take a closer look at Ted Vernon and his wiki-bio.
Ted Vernon was born on the 17th of October 1948 in Long Island, New York. Even though Ted has never shared details about his family, we know that his father Harold Vernon was a real estate agent. Growing up, Ted took after his father and learned the basics of a deal and how best to earn a profit. His father was also the main source of inspiration in Ted starting his career as an entrepreneur. Ted matriculated from a local high school in 1996 and decided to forego further education for his career.
Even though Ted is now a renowned name in the automobile industry, he first started as a boxer. Ted later quit boxing and started a business of re-selling and fixing vehicles in 1977 with a friend. Two years later, Ted quit the partnership and started his own business. Things looked bright for Ted and his company South Beach Classics became popular with the locals.
During 2005, Ted met his future wife, Robin Zeil. He introduced Robin as a partner in his company and it was she who reached out to the producers of the Discovery Channel. Talks of a TV series began and on the 30th of March 2011, Velocity Network aired a brand new show entitled South Beach Classics. The show later moved to the discovery network and Robin and Ted gained celebrity status. As of 2020, Ted’s net worth is estimated to be around USD 15 million.
Acting and Making Films:
Ted has tried his hands in acting and has also produced some low budget films. His first appearance on the big screen came in 1987 in the movie, Hammerhead Jones. In the years that followed, Ted played several roles including played Corbin in “Scarecrows” (1988), a receiver in “Extralarge: Black and White” (1991), Vinnie in “Deadly Rivals” (1993), and Thug B in “South Beach” (1993). In 1995, Ted worked as an executive producer in the Village of the Damned. He continued to work in movies with his most recent appearances in Hell Glades (2013) and Bikini Swamp Girl Massacre (2014).
Tedd has had a troubling time when it comes to relationships. He met his first wife, Monika Sula when he was 30. The pair married in 1988 and had a son, Mark, and a daughter Alexandra. The pair got divorced in 1994 due to Ted’s extra-marital affairs. Sadly, Monika passed away in 2014.
Ted met his second wife on a blind date set by his friends. This was back in 1998 and the pair started living together within weeks of meeting together. They got married in 2000 at a Buddhist ceremony and had their first child, Ted Vernon Jr. in 2004. Ted introduced Robin as a partner to his business in 2005 and the pair co-ran the show.
Things took a bad turn in 2016 when the couple accused each other of cheating. In 2017, Robin claimed that she was repeatedly punched by her husband and reported him to the police. Ted was arrested for domestic violence which resulted in the cancellation of the show.
Life After divorce
After the divorce from Robin Ted has kept his personal life away from the public spotlight. It is hard to tell if he is seeing someone let alone married. More likely Ted is currently single. The same goes for his ex-wife Robin who currently enjoys her life away from prying media and does not let anything slip about her personal life.
