As is the way of the world, what is old decays and degrades. American Restoration is just one of the TV shows which focuses on restoring vintage items to their former glory. The cameras follow each member of the cast as they struggle to find the parts and techniques to restore vintage products. The series featured Rick Dale who is a metal artist and antique restoration expert. In this article, we take a closer look at Rick Dale and his lifestyle.
Early Life
Ricky Dale was born on the 13th of December 1970 in Newport Beach, California. Rick spent much of his early life in Newport Beach before heading for Boulder City, Nevada. After moving to Nevada at age 13, Rick began helping his father who was a professional racer and a mechanic. Alongside his younger brother Ron, Rick would often scurry around the garage helping his father. As far as academics go, Rick attended a local high school and started working with his father after getting out.

Professional Career
While Rick started his early career by helping out in his father’s garage where he oversaw the restoration of old parts to painting cars. Dale also owned a construction company, but it did not turn out successful. By 1983 his business was failing and Rick turned to Antique by accident. He had an old Coke machine in his backyard which he fixed and sold to some guy in Japan. As customers keep coming, he bought old Coke machines at a flea market and sold them for three times what he had spent on them.
Rick later set up a new shop by the name of Rick Restorations in Las Vegas, Nevada by employing many of his family members. Known for its quality restorations, Rick Restorations started to make a name for itself. This brought a new opportunity for Rick who was asked to restore for Gold & Silver Pawn Shop owner Rick Harrison. He was also featured on the show âPawn Starsâ as an expert on vintage items.
Rick eventually got his own show on the History Channel, âAmerican Restorationâ, which followed him and his staff as they restored various items brought in by customers or purchased by Dale himself. The show featured cameo appearances by celebrities such as David Copperfield, Billy Joel, and Sammy Hagar.
Rick joined the main cast in 2010 and was featured until six seasons in 2014 when the network decided to reboot it with a new cast and concept. Dale has also appeared on other shows such as âAmerican Pickersâ and âCounting Carsâ as well as the documentary âCoked Up!â.

Personal Life
Rick is enjoying a blissful married life with his longtime wife Kelly Dale. But Kelly wasn’t his first wife. Rick got married in the early 90s to a lady whose identity is not known. The marriage did not last long, the pair went separate ways in 1993 when she left without explanation. In the time of togetherness, the pair did not have any children together. Rick was devastated and once the divorce was finalized, Rick closed the shop and vowed to never get back to it again. One of the major reasons for the divorce could be that Rick was working too much and had too little time for his wife.
Rick then met Kelly Dale who worked as a Marketing Expert. As the relationship escalated quickly the pair decided to get married. They celebrated their wedding on 11th November 1994 among friends and family. With the support of Kelly, Rick got back to his fit and launched his career once again. They have been married for nearly three decades and have two children together. The pair were blessed with a baby boy Tyler Dale in 1994. Tyler’s little sister Ally Dale was born two years later.
