Rebecca Kings Crews was born o the 24th of December 1965, in Michigan. Born to Jack Winston Lund, Rebecca had a tough upbringing. Her father had a serious alcohol problem and would often abuse Rebecca. He passed away on the 8th of October, 2017, and Rebecca took to Instagram to share the news.
Rebecca’s personal hell ended when she was 17-years of age and ran away from the family. From a young age, Rebecca had a passion for acting. In 1984, she registered and won the title of Miss Gary, Indiana.
Meeting Terry and Marriage:
During her early years, Rebecca began writing and singing Gospel songs. She performed with a group The Chosen Ones which was based at Western Michigan University. It was during her time at college that she met Terry Crews. Talking about the first time they met, Terry revealed that he was initially in the friend zone.
“[Rebecca] was playing piano at my church… I went, ‘You play that piano really nice.’ She was like, ‘Yeah, OK.’ I was in the friend zone. What happened was I earned my way in. I treated her with respect and I knew. I said ‘This is the one.’ … I took my time. I was not going to mess that up.”
Before getting married to Terry, Rebecca had a daughter with Charles Burton, Naomi.
Problems in paradise:
Rebecca and Terry tied the knot in 1990 and have been together for over 30 years. But the pair’s marriage has not been without problems. In 2014, Terry revealed in his book Manhood: How to Be a Better Man — Or Just Live With One that he had struggled with an addiction to pornography. Terry revealed that it got to a point when his wife told him that he didn’t recognize him anymore. Terry broke the news to his fans via Facebook,
“My wife was literally like, ‘I don’t know you anymore, I’m out of here.’ That changed me. I had to change because I realized this thing is a major, major problem.”
In a conversation with Dr.Phil, Rebecca revealed that it took her three years to really trust him again after she seriously considered leaving him for good.
Always had his back:
Back in 2016, Terry revealed that he was sexually assaulted by Hollywood agent Adam Venit at a party in 2016. The lawsuit was settled in September 2018 and Rebecca had Terry’s back throughout the whole process. Talking to the unpopular magazine, Rebecca revealed,
“I have nothing but pride for my husband. This is a subject worth fighting over. We spent a lot of our own money to fight. Which we got back. I got to see my husband fight for his rights in a town where he had to put up with a lot of stuff to work. It was a great moral victory.”
In May of 2020, Terry revealed that his wife Rebecca was diagnosed with cancer. Rebecca underwent a double mastectomy and was declared 100% cancer-free. Terry revealed the good news when he appeared on the TV series, The View.
