Rebecca King Crews is an American actress, singer, songwriter, and producer who is best known for her appearance and production of the reality TV show The Family Crews, which follows the life of her family with her husband Terry Crews, a former football player and actor. She is also a gospel singer who has released a single called Can I Stay? under the stage name Regina Madre. 

Early Life:

Rebecca King Crews was born on December 24, 1965, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA. She grew up with two siblings, a sister named Elizabeth Jane and a brother named Samuel Taylor. Her father, Jack Winston Lund, was a businessman and her mother, Anna Mae Parks, was a lawyer. Her father was abusive and alcoholic and her mother was depressed because of his behavior. Rebecca is of mixed race and followed Christianity.

Rebecca was interested in modeling and singing from a young age and participated in beauty pageants. She was crowned Miss Gary, Indiana in 1984 when she was in high school.

Rebecca King Crews has a versatile career as an actress, singer, songwriter, and producer.  She started her career as a model and beauty queen, winning Miss Gary, Indiana title in 1984. She then pursued musical theater at Western Michigan University and performed in various stage productions such as Oklahoma, The Wiz, Pippin, Evita, and The Music Man. She also created her own gospel group called The Chosen Ones where she sang, wrote, and produced songs.

She made her TV debut in  E! Problems in Paradise:

Rebecca and Terry got married on July 20, 1990, and have been together for over 32 years. But the pair’s marriage has not been without problems. In 2014, Terry revealed in his book Manhood: How to Be a Better Man — Or Just Live With One that he had struggled with an addiction to pornography. Terry revealed that it got to a point when his wife told him that he didn’t recognize him anymore. Terry broke the news to his fans via Facebook,

“My wife was literally like, ‘I don’t know you anymore, I’m out of here.’ That changed me. I had to change because I realized this thing is a major, major problem.”

Back in 2016, Terry revealed that he was sexually assaulted by Hollywood agent Adam Venit at a party 2016. The lawsuit was settled in September 2018 and Rebecca had Terry’s back throughout the whole process. Talking to the unpopular magazine, Rebecca revealed,

“I have nothing but pride for my husband. This is a subject worth fighting over. We spent a lot of our own money to fight. Which we got back. I got to see my husband fight for his rights in a town where he had to put up with a lot of stuff to work. It was a great moral victory.”

In 2019, they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with a lavish party at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. They had surprise performances by Stevie Wonder and others, and they cut into a replica of their original wedding cake.

Health Scare:

Rebecca was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in January 2020 after she received a mammogram and ultrasound. She decided to have a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery right away, without waiting for further tests or treatments. She underwent surgery on March 3rd, 2020, just before the coronavirus pandemic was declared. She was joined by her husband Terry Crews, her pastor, and her best friend at the hospital. She recovered well and is now cancer-free. She said, “After the call I had this clear vision of myself stepping through a door, and on the other side of this door, the sun was shining brightly and I was very happy. I just had this sense that I was going to be okay.” She wants to use her story to inspire and encourage other women who are facing challenges.
