Troy Landry Officiates Pickle Wheat’s Wedding in the Bayou | Swamp People S16E8

In Swamp People Season 16, Episode 8, titled “Gators, Guns, and a Wedding,” which aired on February 20, 2025, the episode takes a sentimental turn as Pickle Wheat (Cheyenne Wheat) prepares to get married during the height of alligator season. While most of the team is focused on tagging gators, Pickle has her sights set on something far more personal.

Troy Steps in as Officiant

Pickle entrusts none other than Troy Landry — the King of the Swamp himself — to officiate her wedding. When asked why she chose Troy, she simply says: “Because I love you to death, and I want you to do it for me.” Troy, deeply touched, jokes that while he’s been to plenty of weddings, he was usually “so drunk I don’t remember half of it.”

“She wants me to perform the ceremony… so I had to get ordained.”

With his signature humor and heartfelt sincerity, Troy puts on the collar and embraces his temporary role as wedding officiant.

Last Hunt Before “I Do”

Before heading off to the wedding, Troy joins his son Chase Landry on the water for one last hunt. With a full moon in the sky, Troy hopes for a fruitful day.

The pair wrangle multiple large gators, including a tree-shaker that showcases their teamwork and quick reflexes. As they haul in their biggest catch of the day, Troy knows time is running out to get cleaned up and ready for the ceremony.

“We gotta be done for 4:00. Gotta go get my hair done.”

An Emotional Bayou Ceremony

The wedding ceremony takes place on the banks of the Belle River, a fitting setting for the swamp-born bride. Troy opens the event with a warm welcome to friends and family.

“I have the best and the prettiest deckhand I’ve ever had. Okay, remember, she made me say that.”

He delivers every line exactly as Pickle wrote it, including a humorous moment where he warns the groom, Joshua, about the challenges ahead: “I hope Joshua is prepared for the challenge he has ahead.”

The vows are exchanged, and as Troy declares, “Joshua, you may tag your tree shaker,” the crowd erupts in laughter and applause.

A Daughter He Never Had

As Pickle walks down the aisle in her white dress, Troy is visibly moved.

“I look at Peewee as the daughter I never had… she was just as pretty as pretty could be.”

For Pickle, the moment was everything she dreamed of. “My daddy gets to walk me down the aisle, and Mr. Troy gets to say the words. I couldn’t ask for anything better.”
