Early Life:

Mikhail Varshavski was born on the 12th of November 1989 in Saransk, Russia to a Jewish family. Born and raised in a medical household, Mikhail’s father was a physician, and a graduate of the Third Medical Institute of Moscow, while his mother was a mathematics professor. When Mikhail was five years of age, he moved to Brooklyn with his parents and sister, Dasha. After their move to Brooklyn, Mikhail’s parents suffered from financial distress and his mother had to sweep floors, while his father went to medical school for the second time. 

In love with the profession:

During his high school years, several of his friends approached Mikhail for sports-related injuries. The more he understood the relationship between his father and his patients, the more Mikhail wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. Mikhail applied at the New York Institute of Technology and was accepted for a seven-year combined track for a bachelor’s degree in life sciences and a doctoral degree in Osteopathic Medicine.

Career:

Following his studies, Mikhail started working on his residency at Atlantic Health System Overlook Medical Center’s Family Medicine program in 2014. His mother passed away during the first year of the program, and Mikhail moved back with his father. After wrapping up his residency in 2017, Mikhail joined Chatham Family Medicine, a family practice with Atlantic Health System, in Chatham, New Jersey, and has been working there ever since.

In addition to his medical practice, Varshavski is actively involved in philanthropy and charity work.  He is the founder of the empowerment organization, Limitless Tomorrow. He has supported various causes, including disaster relief efforts and raising awareness about important health issues.
