Chef Kevin Dobson from Below Deck: Wiki-Bio, Controversy.

Drama follows Kevin Dobson wherever he goes. The head chef on the reality TV series Below Deck, Kevin is known more for his fights than his dishes. From laying the blame to captain Lee Rosbach to kicking the sand in Kate Chastain’s face, Kevin loves the controversy. Of all the members on board, Kevin was the only one who openly rejected the misogyny mentioning that it wasn’t all that bad. Kevin joined the cast on the seventh season of the show, and his prospects of coming back aren’t all that good. In this article, we will take a closer look at the wiki-bio of Kevin Dobson.

Early Life:

Kevin Dobson was born in Lake Tekapo in New Zealand. Born and raised in New Zealand, Kevin has always been good in the kitchen. With his parents to show him the ropes, Kevin quickly excelled in the kitchen. At age 12, Kevin joined a local bakery and started learning more about the industry. Instead of going to a local high school, Kevin decided to enroll in a culinary school located in Timaru. Kevin made the decision when he was just 14 years of age and quickly ascended through the ranks.

Professional Career:

After graduating from culinary school, Kevin started working in several hotels around New Zealand. He moved to Australia and worked for a while before coming back to New Zealand to work in Arrowtown with Pete [Gawron] at Saffron. He moved to the US before heading back to Australia, for the second time.
Kevin’s first experienced the world of yachting during his second stay in Australia. He joined a yacht that made rounds of the Kimberley, up the top of Western Australia. After realizing the amount he could make from yachting, Kevin decided to work as a yacht chef. The change in heart came after Kevin had a daughter and had to work to support her.

Below Deck :

Kevin first came in touch with the producers in 2016 when he was just finding up his place in yachting. Not wanting to destroy his career prospects, Kevin turned down the offer. Talking about the rejection, Kevin revealed,

“My understanding was that it kind of ruins your ticket for any further career in yachting, as the show’s a little bit frowned upon in the professional realm.”

But when he was approached once again in 2018, Kevin was finishing up on a boat and signed up for it.

First Impressions:

In an interview with the New Zealand Herald, Kevin revealed that he often came off as cocky. Explaining his behavior, Kevin revealed that it comes from his years of experience as a chef.

“I’ve worked on quite professional boats previous to jumping on this, and the level of service, what I expect, isn’t really there. And it just gets a bit frustrating really.”

During his time on-board, Kevin has been involved in his fair share of controversies. In the season finale, Kevin kicked sand in Kate‘s face. When asked about the whole thing, Kevin explained,

“I don’t remember kicking sand in her face but I obviously did it for a reason. If she said, like, ‘You balding dickhead,’ or told me I had a small penis, if she said some truth that’s fine, but definitely don’t call me a shitty yacht chef.”

He even laid it to Captain Lee Rosbach, when the captained mentioned he wasn’t aware of the misogyny on board. To which the captain replied,

“Kevin, you asked why I didn’t know? What would you have done differently to make yourself aware of what I didn’t know? How would you have behaved, Captain Kevin?”

Chances are this was the last interaction between Captain Lee and Kevin Dobson.
