Early Life:
Derick Michael Dillard was born on the 9th of March 1989 to Rick Dillard and Cathy Bynum. Born and raised in Rogers, Arkansas, Derick spent much of his early life with his younger brother, Daniel Dillard. After graduating from a local high school, Derick decided to enroll at Oklahoma State University. While at University, Derick’s father passed away due to a heart condition. On January 18, 2008, Rick Dillard left the world in his sleep. To honor his father’s memory, Derick applied for the position of the school mascot, Pistol Pete. Even though Derick was denied the first time around, he was handed the position in the second try. Derick graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, and Economics.

Professional Career:
In 2012, Derick made the trip to Nepal and moved to Kathmandu for volunteer work. During his two years-stay, Derick led teams of American Volunteers into the Himalayas to provide services and education to Tibetan refugees.
After returning to the US in 2014, Derick started working as a tax accountant at Wal-Mart’s corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas. He lasted at the job for one year and announced his resignation on June 10, 2015.
On October 2, 2016, Derick revealed that he had been working as a substitute teacher at Springdale High School. A student of the Cross Church School of Ministry, Derick is often traveling as a part of his ministry training. He made the trip to Mexico in March of 2018 and to Colorado in April of the same year. While it is unclear as to what he is doing currently, Derick is pursuing law at the University of Arkansas.
Meeting Jill and getting married:
Right before Derick made the trip to Nepal, he met up with Bob Duggar. In March of 2013, Derick and Jill met through the phone and started talking. At the end of November 2013, Jill and Bob came to Nepal to meet Derick and the pair entered official courtship.
After asking Bob’s permission to marry Jill, Derick proposed on March 29, 2014. The pair tied the knot on June 21, 2014, at Cross Church in Springdale, Arkansas. Shortly after, on August 20, 2014, the pair announced their first pregnancy. Their first-born Israel David was born on April 6, 2015. On December 20, 2016, the pair announced they were expecting and gave birth to Samuel Scott on July 8, 2017.
Problems with the Duggars:
Even though Derick has not featured on the show for quite a while, he has not shied away from stating his qualms. Derick claimed that the pair were never paid for the show and Jim Bob was the only one making money. He also revealed that there was little privacy on the show and the family resided over when and where to disclose the news. Due to his ongoing feud with Bob, Derick is not allowed to visit the Duggar’s compound.
