Ivy Calvin was born on the 10th of September 1971 in Palmdale, California, USA. Growing up, Calvin spent much of his early life in California and attended a local high school. He then enrolled at the California State University in Northridge for higher education. During his time at the University, Calving was a linebacker for the University’s football team.
Calving began his career as an American Football player before switching to MMA Fighting. He learned mixed martial arts and made his debut as an MMA fighter in 2002. In his debut match against Samu Samu, Ivy was named as the winner after a minute into the fight. Even though he won his first fight by submission, he didn’t enter the ring again.
During his time at the University, Ivy became interested in storage lockers and started attending auctions. Unsatisfied with small returns, Ivy started actively investing in storage lockers. Ivy was often asked about an injury around his right eye. Fans were quick to speculate that he got the injury during his time as an MMA fighter. But Ivy later revealed that he got the injury from fishing when a wave struck and pushed him onto the coral. The accident had no permanent damage and Ivy was let off with only a scar.
While Ivy was making some profits early on in his bidding days, he was not satisfied. So in 2009, Ivy established a thrift store by the name of Grandma’s Attic. But the store got recognition only after Ivy appeared in Storage Wars. Alongside the reality series, the thrift store also contributes to Ivy’s net worth.
