Many seem to think that Zeke is on a fool’s errand, and dredging is not the business for him. Often referred to as the Mad Scientist, Zeke is a high-stakes player. The man believes in his gut-instinct and is ready to gamble everything if needed. While this often results in a complete disaster, Zeke is barely discouraged. He seemingly moves on with his life and business. Not the one to work under someone, Zeke has always been his own boss. Save the single time when he attempted to run a corporate dredge, and as many would have guessed it resulted in a complete disaster. In this article, we will take a closer look at the wiki-bio of Ezekial Tenhoff.
Ezekial “Zeke” Tenhoff was born on January 27, 1987, in Alaska. Born and raised in a typical Alaskan family, Zeke was homeschooled by his parents. The eldest of three brothers, Zeke spent much of his early life going diving with his brothers, Sam and Gabe Tenhoff. The trio of brothers shared a strong bond and Zeke is fond of both of his brothers. Zeke began his career in Gold Mining from 20-years of age. He started working on several expeditions and was later able to buy his own boat.
Zeke is a versatile worker in the professional gold dredging business. Besides holding the fort as a captain he worked as a deep water diver. And his ability to prospect and motivate is second to none. Zeke built his first boat “The Clark” from the scratch in 2008. After this venture in professional gold dredging, he bought another boat named “The Edge”.
Over the years, Zeke never surrendered his position as the captain to anyone else. From the outside perspective, Zeke is doing things that many of his fans would only dream of. Zeke often does what he pleases and has rarely worked under someone. Even though his laid-back attitude has resulted in more harm than gain, Zeke is not looking to change his ways.
Zeke joined the cast of Discovery show “Bering Sea Gold” during the first season in 2012. The show follows the struggles and exploits of Alaska based gold miners trying to make a living in the deep waters of Bering sea. Zeke appeared in 75 episodes until 2017. In the show, Zeke owned and operated “The Clark” joined by his childhood friend Emily Riedel who worked as a deckhand and even as a deep water diver. Later she bought his second vessel “The Edge” in 2013 and started gold dredging of own.
Reuniting with former flame:
Zeke maybe his own boss, but the man knows when to put aside his pride. This was evident during the “Bering Sea Gold” sixth season in 2016 when Zeke reluctantly turned to a former flame, Emily Riedel. To help Zeke who was short on cash, Emily partnered with him. With Zeke functioning as the engineer and Emily as the bank, the pair enjoyed moderate success, and Zeke was back on his feet. The pair continued their partnership and explored Sledge Island: a mysterious, deserted, volcanic formation twenty-six miles into the Bering Sea. At the end of season 8, the two parted to explore on their own.
Leaving the show: What happened?
The all-new season of Bering Sea Gold has started without Zeke and fans are left wondering why. As of 2020, Bering Sea Gold has 12 seasons and Zeke has not been part for some years now. He last appeared in 2017 during the 9th season. With neither showrunners nor the man himself explaining, we can only hope Zeke will be back. In the hindsight, it may be due to Zeke’s financial and personal woes. In an interview, Zeke revealed that he went through a rough patch after seemingly losing everything to gold dredging. He slipped into severe depression and was involved in substance abuse. This was around the same time when Zeke ended up in New Orleans, Louisiana. After a period of recovery, Zeke made his way back to Nome.
Personal Life and Relationships:
For the most part, Zeke has not revealed any details on his personal life. The streak broke when Zeke turned to his former girlfriend Emily for help. This allowed viewers to peek into a completely new dimension of Zeke’s life. While the pair shared cute moments on-screen, Zeke has seemingly moved on with his life after his split from Emily. He shares a loving relationship with Sarah Dunn, who is an artist and also runs a food truck that is called The Au Gratin. Sarah operates out of Nome, Alaska and the pair were instantly attracted to each other.
