Even though Ellen Pompeo is considered to be one of the highest-paid actors in Television, her personal life is every bit secret as her professional life is out in the open. The actress rose to fame following her appearances on the TV series, Grey’s Anatomy, and has been a part of the series ever since. Even though most of everything Pompeo has done in her career is out in the open, details on her marriage and husband Christopher Ivery are hard to come by. The TV star takes her private life seriously and makes sure that everything she says on media is related to her work life. Pompeo has rarely slipped up, save for a few details here and there. As a result, not much is known about Christopher Ivery.
Early Life and career:
Christopher Ivery was born on the 4th of February 1967, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Ivery has not revealed much about his early life, and details on his parents, siblings, and education are hard to come by.
Ivery first came to media attention in 2001 and when he started working as the producer at Parallel Music. In November of 2010, Ivery took the mantle of Executive Producer (Film and Television) for the company Calamity Jane Productions, which was founded by Ellen and is located in Disney Studios in Burbank, Los Angeles.
Ivery has enjoyed a successful career and has contributed to several hits over the years. He helped co-write, Rihanna’s Cheers (Drink to That) for her fifth studio album, Loud.
In January of 2014, Ivery took up the position of a board member at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He also accompanied his wife, Ellen, to an episode of Ashton Kutcher’s, Punk’d. Ivery is also credited for his appearance alongside Billy Bush in the TV show, Extra, in 2019.
A dark past:
Much like his wife Ellen, Ivery has a dark past and has 13 convictions on his record for offenses involving drug tracking, counterfeiting documents, credit card fraud, postal theft, and probation violations. Ivery was first arrested in 1987 when he was 19, for the possession of cocaine and marijuana possession with an intent to sell. Ivery missed his probation hearing and ended up spending three months in jail. Several years later, Ivery was arrested for a second time after he was found with Cocaine. He was also convicted of accepting stolen property and ended up serving 15 months in a Pennsylvania federal prison. Even though he got out in 1995, his release lasted only for a total of three years as Ivery was arrested in 1998 after the police caught him with a 10-pound UPS package of marijuana worth $7,000, with an intent to sell. After spending six months with an ankle bracelet, Ivery cleaned up his act and has been clean ever since. As a source close to him put it,
“Chris has changed his ways, done a complete turnaround. His problems with the law were a very long time ago, and all his skeletons have been revealed. He’s not running from anything.”
Chris Ivery is happily married to his wife Ellen Pompeo and the pair have been together for quite a while. They first met in 2003 at a grocery store and stayed as friends for a while. The duo bonded over their difficult upbringings and eventually began dating. Chris admitted his dark past to Ellen before the pair tied the knot in a secret affair at New York City Hall in 2007. The pair have been married since and when asked for the secret to a happy marriage, Ellen puts it,
“Just don’t try to change people. They are who they are, and they were fine when you married them, so don’t expect them to change.”
As of now, the pair have three lovely children, Stella Luna Pompeo Ivery (2009), Sienna May Pompeo Ivery (2014), and Eli Christopher Pompeo Ivery (2016). The pair’s second child, Sienna was born via a surrogate and her birth was kept a secret to protect the identity of the surrogate.
