Stephanie Mead was born on the 28th of March 1991 in Chicago, Illinois. Born and raised in Chicago, Stephanie had two sisters to spend much of her early childhood with. The trio attended the Hinsdale South High School before Stephanie went off to Northern Illinois University (NIU). She graduated with a major’s degree in Geography and a minor’s degree in Journalism. During her time at the university, Stephanie finished her internship program at WTVO-TV Channel 17.
During her final years at the University, Stephanie was invited by the Northern Television Center as a weather presenter. The station was based on DeKalb, Illinois and Stephanie had to divide time between studies and work.
Once Stephanie graduated in 2013, she started working for the KMVT-TV in Twin Falls, Idaho. She took the mantle of the weather presenter and began working on programs like Rise and Shine. The experience proved invaluable for Stephanie who was mentored by the chief meteorologist Brian Neudorff. She later took over the post from Brian and began working as a Cheif Meteorologist.
After a two-year stint at the KMVT-TV, Stephanie moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was offered a job by NBC 26. During her time there, Mead was asked to operate the local weather forecasts and also to cover extreme weather events. During her time at the station, Mead was also nominated for the Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmy Award.
In 2017, Mead left NBC 26 and decided to join the WISH-TV. The network was under the umbrella of CW and focused its operations in the Indianapolis area of Indiana. This allowed Mead to focus all her energy on the weather. In the years that followed, Stephanie was announced as the member of the Track 8 team. She is currently employed by the FOX affiliate WJBK-TV in Detroit, Michigan, where she joined in April 2023.
