Sara continued her education post-high school and enrolled at University from where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. Following her time at college, Sara took up a job as a teacher in California and spent years teaching elementary school.

Meeting Gooding, Marriage, and Children:

Sara and Gooding first met during their time in high school and remained together through the years. Gooding was 21 during the time and Sara was 17. Following their graduation, the pair moved in together and dated for a good 7 years before deciding to tie the knot on the 13th of March 1994. And as far as Gooding was concerned, Sara was with him before the hype. He said as much in an interview,

“Now that I’m this so-called big star, everybody expects to be with some model… But Sara was there before the hype.”

In their years as a married couple, the pair had three children. Their eldest son, Mason Gooding was born in  1996. Two years later, the pair had another baby boy, Spenser, and their third and only daughter, Piper was born in 2005.

Divorce:

For 20 years, Sara Kapfer and Cuba Gooding were the perfect examples of true love. So, when Kapfer asked for a divorce from Gooding in 2014, fans were left bewildered. Given it was the pair’s 20th anniversary, Gooding refused to accept the divorce and attempted to reconcile with Kapfer. But she refused to do so, and Gooding filed for divorce in 2017. While no reason was ever given for the divorce, many believe that it was the actor’s tendency to party hard and invite women to his hotel rooms that caused all the problems.

Since filing the divorce, Kapfer and Gooding are locked in a legal custody battle involving the custody of their youngest daughter, Pieper. The pair are also debating on the settlement amount with Gooding claiming that his earnings from the Netflix hit, The People V. O.J. Simpson should not be part of the settlement amount as he earned the money after Kapfer filed for divorce in 2014. The case is yet to be settled.
