Pickle Wheat (born Cheyenne Nicole Wheat on September 21, 1995) is an American alligator hunter and reality television personality. She is best known for being a cast member of Swamp People, a History Channel series that follows the lives of swampers in Louisiana.
Early life and family
Pickle Wheat was born in Poydras, Louisiana, to Eddie and Missie Wheat. She has a brother named Cody. The descendent of Isleño settlers, she comes from a long line of trappers, decoy carvers, pirogue builders and early duck call makers. Her great-grandfather was one of the original alligator hunters in St. Bernard Parish. She learned gator hunting from her father and grandfather, who had a unique style of shooting that kept them safe and fed for many years. She also learned how to hunt turkey and ducks, and how to make custom calls for hunting.
Pickle Wheat joined Swamp People in its 12th season, which premiered on February 4, 2021. She quickly became a fan-favorite for her skills and personality. She had a record year hunting with Troy Landry, one of the veteran swampers on the show. She also appeared in the spin-off series Swamp People: Serpent Invasion, which follows the swampers as they try to stop the invasion of Burmese pythons in the Everglades.
When not on the swamp, Pickle Wheat helps with the family business, Wheat’s Game Calls, a family-run business that makes handcrafted game calls for hunting. The business was inspired by her grandfather who used to make his own turkey calls from slate pieces. The business started when someone bought a duck call from their wood shop and they decided to do a local show at the Los Isleños Museum. They have a motto of “following the grain” and they thank their customers for their support.

Pickle Wheat’s relationship with Troy Landry is not based on blood but on friendship and camaraderie. Pickle Wheat was dating Troy’s son, Chase Landry when she joined Swamp People in Season 12. She quickly became close with Troy, who treated her like one of his own and taught her a lot about gator hunting. They had a hilarious and heartwarming bond on and off camera, and Pickle often praised Troy as the best captain in the swamp.
