Love for the weather:
As a young kid, Morgan did not have much passion for the weather. During high school, Morgan went for a vacation with her parents. She was caught in the eye of Hurricane Charley in 2004, which greatly enhanced her passion for weather. As Morgan puts it,
“I actually thought I would teach calculus one day. It wasn’t until my sophomore year of college that I realized how much math was involved in getting a meteorology degree, and I chose to study weather with a minor in mathematics. I felt I had finally found the perfect combination of a career involving two things I loved.”
Morgan began her career as a meteorologist right after graduating college. After doing her internship at a bunch of local stations, Morgan moved to Minnesota and landed a job at the FOX 21 KQDS-DT. She stayed with them until July of 2014, before making the switch to WREX-TV as a news anchor. After three years at WREX-TV, Morgan got the chance to get back to weather WGN WeatherCenter. She joined the network in May of 2017, and also works as a weather anchor for the WGN Morning News. She has been with the WGN Network ever since and loves her job.
“I am lucky enough to wake up every day and truly enjoy my job. I know how blessed I am to be able to say that. Weather is exciting to me, especially changing weather. Big, drastic swings and dips in temperatures, snowstorms, the first thunder of the year—each event is different and exciting in its own way. I get to share that passion of mine with viewers in Chicago every single morning.”
Like the news she presents, Morgan is open about her personal life. Morgan is a married woman and tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend Ryan Michael in April of 2018. The pair got engaged in June of 2017, and have been together ever since. As of 2020, Morgan lives with her husband in Chicago and the pair welcomed their son Brady into the world in 2020.
