Alex’s early childhood was filled with culinary experiences, as she watched her mother test various recipes at home while editing cookbooks. She learned to appreciate different cuisines and flavors, and developed a passion for food. She also traveled to France with her family, where she was exposed to the French culinary tradition and culture.

Professional Life

The 54-year-old began her career by working under the tutelage of Larry Forgione. Fresh out of her apprenticeship, Alex worked at several restaurants all around France, New York, and Los Angeles. During her years she worked at Guy Savoy’s La Butte Chaillot, Daniel Boulud’s eponymous restaurant, and Joachim Splichal’s Patina. After years of practice, Alex was handed the role of executive chef at Butter. She also served a similar position at The Darby restaurant before it closed. However, Alex and Brandon’s marriage did not last long. They divorced in 2015 after eight years of marriage. The reason for their split was reportedly Brandon’s infidelity. He allegedly admitted to having affairs with other women. Alex and Brandon have joint custody of their daughter, but Ava lives with Alex most of the time.

After her divorce, Alex found love again with Michael Castellon, a chef and restaurateur. They got engaged in June 2020. However, their engagement did not lead to marriage. In February 2022, Alex announced that she and Michael had broken up. She did not reveal the reason for their separation, but said that they remained friends. As of now, Alex is single and focused on her career and her daughter.
