Alex Gurnaschelli is one of the most recognizable faces in the culinary world. With numerous books and TV shows under her belt, she rocks an impressive resume. The winner of 2012’s Iron Chef America, Alex has gone on to not only host TV shows but also star in a whole lot of them. Alex was born on the 20th of June 1972 to Maria and John Guarnaschelli. Her mother worked as a cookbook editor during the time Alex was born. Born and raised in New York, Alex finished her education from Barnard College. Alex was introduced to the culinary world at a young age as her mother would often try cooking recipes at home.
The 48-year-old began her career by working under the tutelage of Larry Forgione. Fresh out of her apprenticeship, Alex worked at several restaurants all around France, New York, and Los Angeles. During her years she worked at Guy Savoy’s La Butte Chaillot, Daniel Boulud’s eponymous restaurant, and Joachim Splichal’s Patina. After years of practice, Alex was handed the role of executive chef at Butter. She also served a similar position at The Darby restaurant before it closed. She now serves as the chair for the Museum of Food and Drink’s Culinary Council.
Alex began her TV career as a competitor on The Food Network’s Iron Chef America. While she lost on the show, she went onto feature on the fourth season of The Next Iron Chef. Having placed third in the series she competed on the Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast. In 2008, Alex was handed the reins for the Food Network’s “The Cooking Loft with Alex Guarnaschelli.” Since then, she has featured as a judge in countless cooking shows including Food Network Challenge, Chopped, Cooks Vs. Cons, Young and HungryGuy’s Grocery Games, and The Best Thing I Ever Ate. Currently, Alex hosts and stars in her TV show entitled Alex’s day off.
Marriage and Kids:
Alex married the American Lawyer, Brandon Clark, on the 29th of April 2007. The pair met at the New York’s Institute of Culinary Education in 2006. Even though things were going smoothly at first, they got divorced in 2015. Alex stated that Brandon cheated on her with other women.
They continue to co-parent their daughter Ava Clark who was born in July of 2007. While there were rumors about a possible relationship between Alex Guarnaschelli and fellow chef Geoffrey Zakarian, the rumors were quickly put to bed. Both claimed that they were very good friends.
