Noah Galuten and Iliza Shlesinger make quite the pair. One is a comic and the other is a chef, and as they say, there can be no combination greater than food and laughter. Jokes aside, Noah Galuten is best known for his marriage to Iliza Shlesinger. And while the comedian’s fame far exceeds her husband’s, it’s not to say that Galuten has not done anything worth noting. In his own right, Noah Galuten is a chef, cookbook author, and host of the YouTube cooking show, “Don’t Panic Pantry.” He was nominated for James Beard Award in 2018 for his writing contribution to the cooking field.

Early Life:

Noah Galuten was born on the 21st of September 1982, in Santa Monica, California. Born to Grammy Award-winning record producer Albhy Galuten, and his wife, landscape designer, Nancy Lyons, Galuten is no stranger to Hollywood. As a young kid, Galuten spent most of his early life with his brother, Jason, who has since made a name for himself as a musician. He also has a half-sister, Gabriela Haslip.

On the academic side of things, Galuten graduated from Santa Monica High School and went off to UCLA. At UCLA, Galuten worked for a theatrical degree and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre in 2004. 

Professional Career:

Following his graduation from UCLA, Galuten tried to work as a playwright but could not make things work. So, at 25, Galuten was a broke and unemployed playwright who rarely got projects and could not make things work in the ones he got. It was during those desperate times that Galuten opened a blog, Man Bites World. The blog had one simple purpose, every day, Galuten would try new and different foreign cuisines and would write about his experience with the cuisine in his blog. 

Things took off after a year or so, and Galuten ended up opening a YouTube channel which he subsequently closed in 2016, but not before becoming one of the most followed chefs on YouTube.

Following the success of Man Bites World, Galuten started writing food reviews in LA Weekly, Los Angeles magazine, and others. A respected voice in the culinary world, Galuten serves as a kitchen manager and a member of the Golden State Restaurant Group. He was assigned Bludso’s Bar-&-Que restaurant, Cofax, and Prime Pizza. And while Galuten was already well-known amongst chefs, he got his big break in 2018, when he made an appearance on the TV documentary series, Food: Fact or Fiction, and followed it up with a web show, Food Feeder.

On April 29, 2022, Noah began a youtube show “Don’t Panic Pantry” where he makes cooking videos with the intention to show people how to cook food that they are willing to eat.

Authorship:

Galuten teamed up with Jeremy Fox to co-write and publish the book, On Vegetables: Modern Recipes for the Home Kitchen (2017). They were nominated for James Beard Award the following year in 2018. He is set to release his second cookbook “The Don’t Panic Pantry Cookbook: Mostly Vegetarian Comfort Food That Happens to Be Pretty Good for You” on January 31, 2023.

Iliza talked about the proposal in an interview and it wasn’t quite how she imagined it to be.

“We went out to dinner, and I remember starting to unbutton my pants as I came in the door because I had to pee. I realized our living room was full of flowers and candles, and Noah stopped me before I left the room, saying there was something he wanted to do before I ran off to the bathroom. The pair tied the knot on the 12th of May 2018, and have been together ever since. So far in the marriage, the pair has given birth to a daughter Sierra Mae Galuten. Sierra was born healthy weighing 7 lbs., 9 oz on January 13, 2022.
