Alison came into Sterns life before his fame or riches. Back when both were attending the same college at Boston University. She was Liberal Arts student while Stern was pursuing a degree in Communications.
The two first met each other after introduced by their mutual friend. Initially Stern had given the wrong impression of himself as Alison thought of him as “The Biggest Asshole.” He was able to change the perception later especially after they began working together. Stern was making a student movie, documentary about Transcendental Meditation and approached her to work in the film; she accepted the opportunity.
The young and beautiful, Alison and Sterns affair escalated alongside work. Within a week after their relationship began Sterns had made up his mind of marrying her. The two were in the relationship in final two years of college.
Alison graduated in 1976 and went to Colombia University in New York to pursue Masters in Social Work emphasizing in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis while Stern pursued his radio career. Throughout, the couple maintained their relationship. In 1978 she got her masters degree. Also, same year marrying her boyfriend, Stern.
Marriage and Married Life
Alison married Stern On June 4, 1978. The wedding took place at Temple Ohabei Shalom in Brookline, the family and people close to them attended the ceremony.
The couple practiced Transcendental Meditation what began for them in college and even emphasized on their children. They have three children namely Emily Beth (1983), Debra Jennifer (1986), and Ashley Jade (1993). Their eldest Emily got her first mantra at age 10, and she continues to practice as a grown-up lady.
Alongside family affair at home, Alison would take part in Stern’s radio show phoning in to contradict his complaints regarding sex life. The likable couple would mostly crack jokes on each other, but one time it got out of hand when Stern took lightly about their lost baby. Alison had previously gone through a miscarriage. Later he apologized for the remarks while live on the show.
Alison also involved alongside her husband on several other projects. She performed as an actress in 1997 comedy/ drama genre movie Private Parts and was in The Howard Stern Show (1987) and U.S. Open Sores (1989).
Their Divorce
As a proud husband, Stern would boast his marriage in his radio show. Alison and Stern were thought to be an impressive couple throughout. They never gave any hint of marriage woes also those who lived in the neighborhood in Posh Long Island community knew them as one happy family.
Out of sudden Stern and his wife separated in October of 1999 after 21 years together. In a statement shared by Stern, he blamed his workaholic nature.
“I was totally neurotic and sort of consumed with work. I took work as the most important thing and the only thing.”
The couple has not pointed out any other particular reason. Their eldest daughter Emily spoke of their divorce to nypost. She said;
“I believed that my parents were very much in love, I felt like the divorce came out of nowhere. I thought that sacred bond was so strong.”
Also, she addressed that her mother getting back to work as psychoanalyst could have resulted in the separation.
“Maybe he(Stern) couldn’t handle it when she(Alison) went back to work as a psychoanalyst.”
The divorce proceedings finalized in 2001 afterward, the two remained friendly exes and kept in touch for their children.

She did not take long to move on from the divorce. She married David Scott Simon on 20 November 2001. The couple has so far lived a low-key life and has not made any media appearance. David was once praised by Stern in interview remarking him a great guy and then saying really nice guy. Well that’s a lot coming from the ex, right? Nothing more about David has come out in media except for the fact he is not a celebrity like his wife.
Professionally Alison has made use of her college degree to good effort. She works as Psychotherapist in private practice in Rosylyn Newyork. She is also a licensed Clinical Social Worker.
As for Stern, he married a model and actress Beth Ostrosky Stern who is 18 years younger in age difference. They met at a party in 2000 and started dating shortly after. Howard proposed to her in 2007 and they tied the knot in October 2008 at a star-studded ceremony in New York City. They have been happily married for over 15 years now and share a love for cats and other animals. They have no children of their own.
In 2019, Howard surprised Beth by re-proposing to her on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and they renewed their vows on The Ellen DeGeneres Show with Colton Underwood as the officiant. Howard said he wanted to show his appreciation for Beth and how much she means to him. He also said he wanted to make up for their first wedding, which he felt was too rushed and stressful.
